Motor carriers: make sure the record reflects your experience
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) is reviewing the adequacy of current minimum insurance requirements for commercial motor carriers and has requested real-world data on crash settlements and verdicts.
Much of the data submitted so far comes from plaintiff attorneys. Carriers know their own claims experience better than anyone — the policy limits actually carried, what cases actually resolved for, and how often losses exceeded coverage. This page is for motor carriers to contribute that data, confidentially.

Your data stays confidential
Identify your company by USDOT number, by an anonymous ID you generate yourself, or both — your choice. Claimants' names are never collected. Data is seen only by the project research team, and your company's name is never published unless you expressly allow it.
What we're collecting
For each resolved claim: the year of the crash and of final resolution, the state, the number of injuries and fatalities, your insurance limit, the total settlement or verdict amount, and the economic loss. Every field is optional — provide what you have.
Why participate
FMCSA's review will shape insurance requirements for the entire industry. A record built only from one side's data is an incomplete record. Carrier-submitted claims data ensures the review reflects the industry's real experience — not just the cases that made headlines.
